Postdoctoral Researcher in AI-Driven Catalyst Discovery

ARPA-E Project — CO2 conversion via LLM-guided closed-loop experimentation

About the Position

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher to work at the intersection of experimental heterogeneous catalysis and AI/ML as part of our ARPA-E–funded CATALYST program. You will develop and execute closed-loop workflows using large language models to accelerate the discovery of catalysts for CO2 to alcohols.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field (required)
  • Hands-on experience in heterogeneous catalysis — synthesis, characterization, and/or reactor testing
  • Familiarity with Python and data-driven methods (ML/AI experience a plus)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Location: Rochester, NY  ·  Compensation: Competitive salary & benefits
